The macroeconomic impact of COVID-19 in Mozambique: A social accounting matrix approach

This study aims to assess the economic costs of COVID-19 and state emergency implemented by Government Mozambique, relying on a social accounting matrix. It produces numerical results that represent direct effect (or ‘shocks’ to) economy associated with pandemic. We distinguish four channels—supply, demand, investment, export—by which other efforts influence activity. Our simulation suggests Mozambican lost total 3.6 per cent growth in 2020 employment was 1.9 down compared scenario without COVID-19.
